Vladimir always blamed the secret police, but spent much of his career working for the state as chief of design for Red Square, a typical Soviet story. He was still jailed for 18 months during a Stalinist purge in the 1950's. Georgii and Vladimir Stenberg were graphic designers from Moscow who produced film posters for the Soviet Union during the 1920’s. During this time they created over more than 300 posters with Georgii Stenberg died in a car accident in October 1933 in Moscow. Vladimir continued to work on poster design, especially for cinema, after his brother's death, and in 1947 he organised the decoration of Red Square for the May Day celebrations. Vladimir died in Moscow in 1982.
